Following the announcement of Microsoft's $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, many gamers are wondering exactly how many game companies, and game franchises, Microsoft at present owns. Is it, like, all of them? Non quite, but information technology is a lot. An awful lot. Activision Blizzard is itself the issue of a 2008 merger between two gaming giants, namely Activision and Vivendi (which previously owned Blizzard). While it might be the biggest gaming acquisition in Microsoft's history (in games industry history, in fact), it'southward certainly not the first.
